Carson McCarl to Pilot the Mike Sandvig #7 in 2018
For Immediate Release- Altoona, IA- December 14, 2017- Carson McCarl will pilot the number seven, owned by Mike Sandvig, in 2018. The Spencer, IA, based team plans to make its debut at Eastbay Raceway Park with the ASCS series on February 15th.
The team plans to compete with the ASCS series starting at the end of March for a few races. For the summer months, Carson McCarl and the team will race locally in the Midwest with the MSTS series. They will also be running at Jackson Motorplex, with occasional appearances at the famous half-mile, Knoxville Raceway, competing in a 410 Sprint Car. Driver Carson McCarl says, “I’m looking forward to a fresh start with a new team in 2018!”
The third-generation driver out of Altoona, IA, found success in not only a 360, but also a 410 Sprint Car last year. Carson had no problem finding victory lane last season, as he picked up a Sprint Invaders win at Burlington, IA, early on in the season. He then carried that success into a 410 Sprint Car, setting a new track record at Tri City Speedway with the MOWA series. The new track record was set in just his third full night in a 410, in Pontoon Beach, IL. Also, Carson had an impressive lap time in his 410 debut, ending up third quick with the World of Outlaws in West Liberty, IA.
The owner, Mike Sandvig, spoke on this upcoming season, “We’re excited to have a younger, up and coming driver, who has shown much success in the past. Carson is able to adapt to new facilities quickly, which is crucial for our schedule this year.”
